When you’re hitting on a girl then you out find she’s not single. :(

That moment when you’re bored at school and have a couple hours to spare. You go to the library and you see a pretty girl you had class with me. You’re thinking finally this my chance to get her number and see what can go from there. The whole term you were too scared or there’s some other guy that was talking to her. Now it’s the chance. Up on the stage and thinking about what to say to her. Any wrong move can rub her the wrong way and end all chances of you getting her number. Your palms are all sweaty and mom’s spaghetti was tasting really bad from the night. How can this girl make me have butterflies in my stomach and make me vomit. Thinking of any The Weeknd lyrics you can recite to make her fall in love at first sight. Actually that’s an awful idea. You finally sit right next to her and you say the three letter word, “Hey.” She said those three words back and you need to find something else to say. You mentioned that you had the same class together and how her summer went. Everything was going good until she dropped the bomb on you. You find out she’s not single. You have no will to get her number or even know how her day was going. You just wonder why do all the pretty girls are taken. You realize that you got to find another girl to hit on.

Elephant and The Key

My project is based off an original story that I wrote when I was eleven years old. At first I wasn’t sure what story to use, but then I remembered all the short stories I wrote as a child. When I came across the story ”The elephant and the key,” I decided to use it as part of my project. The story wasn’t too long and it made me happy reading it. As you listen to the video you’ll notice many errors in the way I word my sentences. I wanted the video to have these errors because I didn’t want to ruin the original version that I wrote as a child. The part that I had the most fun with was adding the sound effects into my recording. I enjoyed this part because it was fun to listen to but also challenging. When I finally figured out how to add the effects I wanted into the program, I felt happy and I had more fun with it. Using the microphone to record my voice also took a lot of practice. I wasn’t able to get my voice to sound perfect the first try, but I kept trying until I got the results that I was looking for.

Ty’s Fun Audio Podcast

For this audio project, I wanted to create a podcast of some sort, but wasn’t sure of what to do.  I later decided to try to do a podcast where I reviewed a product, which was the new Prizm speakers, that was going to come out sometime later in the future.

I first saw and heard about it while I was browsing for new gadgets of 2016. CES, or the Consumer Electronics Show, had a posting about all of the neat and interesting products that were displayed for the 2016 show. A lot of the products were ones I wanted to do, but I knew I had to pick one. I came across the speakers not too far into their slideshow, and since I love music so much, I decided to look into it. After finding out more about it, I wanted to talk about it and let people know.

Since I don’t like speaking that much, I decided to get my brother to help me and provide an extra voice. I also think this makes this project easier to do and makes the podcast more entertaining. I wanted a more relaxed approach when doing this podcast, so we both had fun with it. Finding the sounds and music for this podcast was fun as well.

The hardest part was probably trying not to laugh so much and getting my brother to help me. The fan noise from my computer got in the way too in the background. I felt more comfortable doing it at home, rather than doing it here on campus. I’m not the one who enjoys speaking publicly.

Overall, I twas a fun project to work on, even if I am embarrassed to show it off.

The Pickle Story

For this assignment I wanted to tell one of those stories that kids tell around a camp fire, or at a sleepover. This is the one and only creepy story that I know, so I thought it would be a good story for this assignment “also I wanted to draw a dog in a pickle jar”. This story is based on a true event from the early 2000. The true story was, that a woman from the south had diabetes. during the night her dog chewed off one of her toe’s because the tissue had died, much like with frost bite. The dog had probably just assumed it was a strange edible meat treat lie a steak bone. Proving that when you die your pets will eat you. My dad told me about the story, and I embellished it to gross out my friends. What I wanted to accomplish with this project? I wanted to get the same kinda mischievous feeling, that I would get when I was a kid at sleepovers telling these kinds of stories.

I found being the voice for this project pretty interesting. I had to record over, and over to get the right kind of mode for the story; and to get a take where i didn’t mess up. I, myself think I did a good job. Though I didn’t realize tell listening to the recording how much I sounded like a kid.

Finding all of the sound affects from the student library was a lot of fun too. there were hundreds of sounds to go throw,  I know I spent most of my time listening to, a good majority of them, trying to find the right sounds. hopefully the sound affects added a bit of humor to the story and didn’t sound strange, or distract from it.

This project was a lot of fun and I enjoyed the grunt work of writing the story, doing the voice work, and finding the sound affects. I hope you guys liked my story too. tell next time MAC OUT!

Alien Escape Mission – Intro

I had a fun time with this project overall. I really haven’t edited audio or done anything with audio yet, except for when making videos with final cut, and adjusting the sound. With project P4 audio, I went over to a friend’s house and we decided to play around with the sound effects from the program called “garageband” .We found some really cool “Sci-Fi” and “Alien” Loops, and started dropping them into the are story timeline. Shortly after a few sound effect clips we decided to run with it as being an “Alien Type” escape mission. We began writing script lines that went with, and sounded right, towards what kind of sound effects we had already played out. I think it turned out pretty good for being my first time really using the garageband app of my laptop. I really only ran into difficulty’s with adjusting the sound waves, and volume level so it faded in and out correctly. Here are the sources/equipment I have used for this project:

-Garageband.

-Blue “SnowBall” Microphone.

I believe these tools were great for a beginner such as myself. I really liked using the snowball microphone. I did a test comparison towards my laptop microphone, and its by far better. Garageband was also great tool for me, still kind of learning it, but getting the hang of it. Thanks to this project, it’s taught me more with using this software. I can’t wait to use this equipment in future projects.

Interview with A Villain

download

My Audio Project at first was just a on the spot idea that it would be funny if Bane from the Dark Knight interviewed to work at a frozen yogurt stand and my project would be the funny banter. That idea with Bane did not really go anywhere and I still liked the villain idea. I decided I would use “Generic” made up villain and it would be easier to record. Once I actually started working on the project it was easy and super fun. I messed around with the effects and added some free audio files to kind of mix things up. The music I was going for was generic mall music but the one I got was a bit jazz romance but it grew on me.

The “interview” itself is pretty simple, I just used my voice for both and changed the pitch for the villain. I changed the music a bit just so it was not super loud. When I was looking at the wavelengths it seemed like my actual voice was not coming in loud but when I finished it came out looking fine so i’m not sure what happened there.

I feel like I could have done some more polishing if i had more time but I am happy with the final project and for a first time audio project I think it was good.

How your choices on Social Media can make you a villain.

Medium is a popular website with a series of blogs from newspapers and media outlets. I found one blog that caught my eye. “The Weird Redemption of SF’s Most Reviled Tech Bro.” It’s set in California which of course will catch my attention and find out about how this person was able to redeemed himself.

Greg Gopman is a rich techie living in San Francisco and grew up in South Florida. A wealthy kid growing up and went to the University of Florida. Move to the Bay Area to work at the Silicon Valley. San Francisco along with Los Angeles have a major homeless problem. Grep Gopman probably wasn’t used to running into homeless people all the time. Majority of homeless have behavioral issue which rubbed Gopman the wrong way. Like most people in this generation we post something up on social media. His posted something how homeless people are ruining the city which sparked a debate on his Facebook post. The next day he was criticized about his comments. Not realizing the mistake he’s done. Politicians and other techies were furious the about his comments about the homeless situation.

Greg Gopman couldn’t understand why people saw himself as public enemy number one in San Francisco. Even his own techie started to turn on him. He soon started to seek out help on how to help his name to clear his name. He started to help out homeless people and even find out about their lives. For the first time in his life he open his ear whenever a homeless person approaches him to tell them what they go through. Then the public thought he was just doing that so he won’t be hated and not doing it from his heart. Ignoring those comments from the general public he continued to work helping out the homeless thinking the public would soon forget and forgive about the comments he made on Facebook. Especially politicians in the Bay Area were not buying that Gopman is doing his charity to really help out the homeless community. They believed once his name is cleared that he would go back to his old egoistical ways. He realized that he can’t change the public perspective about him. It became a personal project for him helping out the homeless community and understand what they go through.

Professional Audio Blog Search

Screen Shot 2016-04-13 at 4.19.53 PM

For my chosen professional blog post, I choose Splice blog. You can find it here at this link. https://splice.com/blog/category/splice-news/

I choose this blog because it focusses mainly on music production and related news, which is what I might be interested in doing someday. The site features all kinds of production tools, tutorials and tips on how to do certain production techniques, as well as what they mean, news relating to music and music production, artist interviews, and some interesting videos. The site doesn’t have a whole lot of videos yet.

The website is very nicely laid out, making it easy to locate posts. Sadly, there doesn’t seem to be a search bar yet, so the user can’t lookup specific posts. The site seems to have been created in 2014, so I’d say it’s still fairly new. The website is also very clean looking and organized. Nothing seems too cluttered and the posting all seem well written out.

One really good resource I found from this site is the different kinds of tutorials you can find. Although there’s not a lot, the ones that are posted provide a ton of information to get one started. There 101 series for example. https://splice.com/blog/effects-101-reverb-explained/. This post talks about what reverb is, all the different kinds of reverb, and the best reverb practices. Lots of information while still being short and sweet.

For me wanting to know and get into music production, this is a good starting blog to find out tads of information about the industry and the practices. Of course if someone wants to find out more, they are always free to check out other sites or various videos. This blog might not have all of the information one might hope for, but it’s still very good.

Skateboarding: Visually and Physically Impressive.

Screen Shot 2016-04-13 at 3.34.08 PMSkate Daily is a blog site that provides news and videos regarding skateboarding. They categorize all posts with dates to help organize the massive amount of information they have on the site. Skate Daily has skate videos that I enjoy watching and they provide great information regarding the video, like who is in the video, where it was shot, and the date.

To me this is a great resource for someone like me to find a focused area in which to see cool skate videos.
The site has a cool layout that is targeted towards others interested in skateboarding and it really shows in the design. It is a bit messy but that does not bother me (or the target audience). It is produced well because it knows its strengths, focus on detailed explanations of videos and knowledgeable information regarding skateboarding and that makes it interesting.

The quality of the information is simple but very easy to understand. Most of the posts are about videos or upcoming contests. One recent post is the results of a contest as well as the list of contestants provided below a video of highlights. Some posts are about news regarding certain companies involved in the skate community. One post by Bryce Kanights talks about “Vans Pro Skate Park Series Announces Partnership With International Skateboarding Federation”. These are cool topics I like reading about.

In my opinion the site is very cool and very much focused on bringing skate content to those interested or involved. I started skating very recently and enjoy seeing pros and amateurs landing or trying new tricks. Hopefully one day I could possibly write for this site and/or see my own skate videos featured on the site.
