I have always been into action sports! For a girl, that’s not exactly the sports path that people would expect. I’ve been skateboarding since I was four, and have skateboarded alongside some of the best skateboarders in history! (Bob Burnquist, Tony Hawk, Pierre-Luc Gagnon, etc.) I wasn’t competing against them but before I moved away from San Diego, I was doing the same sized half pipes as them and skating with them almost every time I went to the local park with an X-Games ramp. After moving from San Diego to Bend, I found that my style of skateboarding was hard to continue with the resources available to me. Then, I was introduced to snowboarding. Ooooh boy, let me tell you, I love snowboarding! It’s my favorite thing to do. Although I’m not able to do it year-round I’m always training for it! One thing I’ve always dreamed about doing is making videos for snowboarding! I own a GoPro so I’m always out filming my friends and I, but have never been the best at editing my videos. in this class, that’s what I’m hoping to learn! Maybe we won’t go into detail about that type of thing in the class, but at least taking this class will give me a better idea of if a Media Arts career is something I’d like to pursue! Whatever I do, I hope that I am working to help better the lives of other female action sports athletes. Whether media arts can get me to where I want to be with my career or not is what I hope to find out in this class, and even if it can’t I’m excited to broaden my horizon on what I already consider to be decent technology skills.

Stories we tell ourselves about ourselves….
….is a quote borrowed liberally and literally from Clifford Geertz (The Interpretations of Culture 1973). The quote, of course, is a layer among many in a very thick description. As an ethnographer, I have never strayed far from Geertz’s foundation that storytelling, that interpretation or explanation of one’s world–the search for meaning–creates a public document of a public act. In a multimediated world, that quest for meaning and the subsequent creation of a public document takes on exponentially more expressions and meanings. Regardless of form, a story cannot exist in a vacuum; an audience is a fundamental component which, by tacit or expressed agreement, perpetuates the process of interpretation and retelling. Seeking the process is not necessarily the same path as seeking the truth.
Hello my friends!
My name is Jose Theragood. I am 33 years of age and am of a multi-racial background. I am from Santa Fe, New Mexico. I served 8 years off and on as a medic for the National Guard and Active Duty Army. I now have a chance to be part of a peaceful community and look forward to being a productive member. I am an avid martial theorist/artist. I am a certified chef and hope to open an Ethiopian inspired cafe of my own one day. People never really make the link between a successful business and how much easier it is with an understanding of multimedia arts. I hope to be able to have more creative control over my advertisements and in store media as well. I hope to reach a wider audience through multimedia facets and hope that people will enjoy what I have to offer.
Professional Blog
Professional Blog Search by Laura Hale
My research into a professional blog uncovered a disturbing lack of them at least in the fields I’ve been interested in. I discovered that it really depends on the field that the professional is in for there to even be a blog. Most of them use a website instead to present their profile, or use a combination of both.
For example, Robert Atkins Art
http://www.robertatkinsart.blogspot.com
He presents his work as apart of the website as well as talking about events that he’s been to, people he’s worked with, and eventually yes you get to his blog so it is not specialized as a blog it’s also a portfolio.
A more focused web site would be Peggy Iileen’s photography site
http://eugenephotographer.com/blog/
Instead of words she allows the pictures to speak for themselves, so while it’s labeled as a blog, it’s more of a picture presentation while giving information about her business.
Josh Burcham’s portfolio
Now this is strictly a portfolio, there’s only a little bit about the artist himself, small announcements about events he’s going to participate in, but for the most part he’s presenting his skills as an artist.
For artists it seems that a picture based ‘blog’ as it were, speaks louder words than if they were to write, they have to keep their art up to date to ensure that they are still practicing and even improving on their skills.
A Wonderful Week
Words carry weight. They can make or break your day, or impart you onto a dream wonder filled world of fantasy just by the artist’s twist of a phrase. So, as I believe in we are what we believe and that positive thought is as powerful as physical action. I am writing a wonderful week for myself and for you, my dear readers!
What got me thinking about having a good start to the week actually came to me at the end of the day. Today, on my way home I saw this guy fly fishing and thought, “hmm, that’s interesting,” as I drove over the bridge heading home from a long day of learning.
I drove on toward home when that ‘ol photographer urge” caught me and made me turn all the way around and go back to the boat dock under the bridge to find this fly fisherman.
Well, ladies and gentlemen, went and had to walk way out on a marsh to shoot, but this is what I got. What’dya think?
I’m glad now, I went back. It made me think of taking it slower and better learning the little intricacies of this art thing to develop my own technique, so I can be as precise as this fisherman with aiming that little fly.
Magical Game Time Professional Blog
My favorite blog is “Magical Game Time” by Zac Gorman. The reason I chose this blog is because I have been following Zac’s work for a long time! His works make me feel that magic feeling I used to feel when I played videogames. When I was little, I always felt immersed in everything I played. There was a certain feeling a new game brought to me, especially a Nintendo game. Reading Zac’s posts, seeing his artwork and reminiscing over old times is what Magical Game Time is all about. Not only do I love this blog, Zac is my role model too! I want to make the same curious and magical experience he brings to each piece. I want people to feel the same way I feel when they watch what I made. Plus, he also made a graphic novel based on a game my brother and I play all the time. If you like games and even good animation and charm, I highly suggest Magical Game Time. MGT is also expertly crafted and a joy to look at as well! http://magicalgametime.com/

You The Designer: http://www.youthedesigner.com/
YouTheDesigner is a creative design blog that focuses on the all-encompassing lifestyle of graphic designers. The homepage is inviting, colorful (but not overwhelming) and well organized: right off the bat, I noticed the several different tabs at the top, listing with drop down menus all they have to offer. The site is stuffed with resources, from news articles, artist interviews, tutorials for a multitude of creative programs and of course an artist gallery. Everything is concise and to the point, but there isn’t any shortage of content and information. Whether you’re a beginning graphic designer or a seasoned professional, this site is an artists mecca.
A blog about a blog
The name of the blog I discovered is “Horror’s Not Dead” http://horrorsnotdead.com/wpress/
This blog is a big mash-up of ideas, but not in a bad way. For instance, it has reviews on several different horror movies new and old. They give opinions on reviews on their “top ten” goriest, scariest, most gut wrenching horrifying films out there in the world. It’s also discussed on why some movies make people laugh in the face of horror, while their friends are chewing off their finger nails and trying not to wet themselves in their seat. I recommend reading the post by Seth Hall called “From the Shadows: Disney’s ‘Alice in Wonderland’”, if the idea of horror films is truly lost on you.
Naughty Dog Game Development Professional Blog
By: Shane Boss
Naughty Dog Blog: http://www.naughtydog.com/blog/
Naughty Dog website: http://www.naughtydog.com/
Naughty Dog is a game development company located in Santa Monica, California that has been around since 1984 and was founded by independent developers, Andy Gavin and Jason Rubin. They are a widely known game development studio for Sony Playstation and have worked on major titles such as the Uncharted series and The Last of Us. I look up to game developers such as Naughty Dog because it is my goal to work with such an awesome team some day and work on such great titles which they develop.
The art, animation and story lines to their games are top notch and I am always pulled into their games when ever I play one of their new titles. To me, they are everything a game developer should be, they make sure all their bases are covered when providing the most exceptional gaming experience possible. I am already hooked on their Uncharted series which follows Nathan Drake on a series of nail biting treasure hunt adventures filled with non stop action and beautiful locations.I am also ecstatic that they are continuing with The Last of Us series which follows Joel, who escorts young Ellie across post-apocalyptic United States fighting off zombies and other dangerous surviving drifters. Both stories are blockbuster quality and make for an intense, gaming experience. They are a team I would love very much to be a part of.
They keep the community updated frequently with their blogs, posting teasers and information on their upcoming titles. I hope to expect more great things out of this development studio, because their passion shows and is displayed greatly in their work.
Words To Ponder where all Wonder
Words, have power. We all know that. They can soothe, inspire, create, build confidence, start a smile, build a friendship and destroy.
When thinking about blogging as an assignment, it’s a little daunting when you think that everything you put online is there forever, and writing just for the sake of writing seems somewhat a waste of talent to just be building something that is in so many ways, static.
Now, while my ego will not allow me to do anything but my best when it comes to writing anything that someone might eventually see somewhere sometime somehow… I just want it to reflect that even though it is/was for a class, it is still as representative of the natural work done for a professional cause.
So, saying all that for what ever reason, here are a couple of WEB SEARCHES for some neat blogs that are pretty good and quite entertaining as well.
Their Blog is basically a online school learning atmosphere with “an introduction to digital painting and color composition for film and animation. With an emphasis on studying the works of old masters, students discover the process of how to deconstruct the picture plane through film studies, reproductions of master works, and the widely used- but often understated -industry standard technique of ‘Photoshoping.’
Want to earn money with your blog once it’s up and running? Here’s one place that says they pay well!
