My Love

This video was actually not my original idea. But I don’t know if anyone has every tried to do a photo shoot with their animals, they don’t cooperate very often. So I went with my next best idea. I have been in a relationship for 5 year, we all have partners that have little things that may drive us nuts. Then there are things that we absolutly love about that person. To incorporate 5 I listed obviously the 5 things i love and dislike about her… Also if you’re paying attention in each picture and video there are things in 5. Can you spot them?        That voice sounds awfully like a Gnat I used know:)

Here is my concept of five for this project, I originally intended for there to be a bit more of a story with this video but due to time constraints I had to cut all of my footage down to the stars shining moments. Filming with animals, especially multiple kinds is difficult and requires a lot of patience especially if you want something specific from them. So the best thing I can learn from this project is to plan out things ahead of time and a lot more carefully, perhaps choose what a single animal can do as far as the number five instead of five different animals in very different locations. Otherwise, filming and editing was a tremendous amount of fun even though it was a short video, I’d wanted more special affects like speech bubbles but a file had gotten corrupted that had that affect unfortunately. Lessoned learned: check your affects before planning to use them.

Fun with Five

I am new to this multimedia world and I have learned to recognize when an idea is a little ambitious and that I need to work to my own skill set. I chose to do something rather simplistic but still working with the five concept. I did not get a chance to really work with Wondershare but I will start looking into beginner editing software to find the one that works for me. The five concept I came up with was to throw my five matching knives which produce that “thunk” sound five times while “Five Elements Ninjas” (an ol’ school kung fu flick) played in the background. I found an effect on my camera that produced a kind of painted/watercolored look and I went with it. It turned into a fun game to get all five knives to take without knocking others out or missing completely, all in one take. All in all it was super fun.

Had a lot of fun with this project, Celldweller is by far one of my favorite artists so working with his music was great, I did get permission from him before hand(thanks to him for that). Working on this project i learned i don’t like free editing software very much, not enough options for transitions and other things. I didn’t add effects to the video because it made the images look kinda weird, after all they are images of space and are already awesome enough as is.

I chose space because it fit the motif of the album i chose the song from, Wish Upon A Blackstar. 5 doesn’t really mean anything to me so i just tried to have fun with it and add in lots of hidden 5s in the video. Have fun finding them all .

For this project, I wanted to do something ambiguous so as to let the viewer interpret the video the way they saw fit—that’s always my goal when creating something. I want the audience to come away thinking about what they just consumed.

I especially wanted to emphasize the melancholy in this scene, thus the black and white footage and the mellow audio. I envisioned someone coming home late at night, depressed and turning to the only two things they think they have—bad habits and music. The effects used during the pan across the vinyl records are used to help establish a sense of the passage of time, as if this were taking place over the course of a whole evening.

This was my first time using Adobe Premiere, so it was a good learning experience for me. Premiere is not only deeper than the video editing software I’ve used in the past, but also exponentially more complex. Simple things, such as adding a title sequence and inserting the fade effects, were difficult to employ at first. It was gratifying, though, to learn the ins and outs and produce a piece of work, even if it’s only 40 seconds long!

Notice the volume of the stereo and the number of records listened to that evening.

P4 Audio. Just the Cheers

juc art

Just the Cheers is a fake album based on the cheering before a live song. The concept is literally that it is just the cheering and nothing else. The sounds itself is a radio ad promoting Just the Cheers and playing samples. It was simply supposed to be something ridiculous I wanted to do and while it was literally at the last minute and very difficult to figure out audacity and edit it all together but it was very fun to do and 100% worth doing.

P4 – Audio

This was my first recording with the program Audacity, so I recorded my general thoughts about the program. I am familiar with other audio programs such as Digital Performer, Garage Band, and my personal favorite, Protools. I found Audacity to be ok in the basic needs and features of audio recording, but there were some things I did not care for. It was simple to record, just push the record button and it began recording, but I did not like how it would record to a new track each time. Maybe you can change this somehow, but I haven’t found out yet. I will probably mess around with Audacity some more to find out its full potential and all its capabilities. The facts its a free program makes up for its limitations. You can still do basic audio recording and editing, so I would recommend checking it out.

The Fox and the Cat – a Short Audio Project

In this small project I recorded, using Audacity, my narration of one of Aesop’s many fables, titled “The Fox and the Cat”. I also included background music and sound effects to enhance the story, courtesy of Freesound.com. The process of creating the project took some figuring out, but it did not take long to get the basics down. I was always interested in Aesop and the methods he used to teach people, and of how simple yet powerful his fables really were. This particular fable’s mural caught my eye: that better one safe way, then many others that you cannot reckon, meaning it’s better to pick from one safe choice than from many other choices that you are unsure of… at least that’s how I interpreted it. Hopefully my mediocre voice acting in this project does not cause your ears to bleed.
