F19-P1 Round 2!

Can an old dog learn new tricks?

What’s a Moodle…?

Hi! My name is John Kneisler. I’m 36 years old and am in my first term attending Lane Community, working towards a media design degree. This isn’t my first time attending LCC. My first college experience didn’t last long. I didn’t even make it through the first term back in 2001. After a few different jobs I found myself working as a union roofer. I enjoyed being outside, jamming out, and taking in the sun.

Hot air balloons on the mourning horizon.
Another beautiful sunrise

Like I said, Im 36 years old now, and have found through my life experiences that the majority of my choices back then were bad ones. I had been wanting to break away from the stresses, intense labor and that hell of a fireball in the sky, that I was left with. I finally just decided to go back to school. I spent a lot of time looking at the majors, and career fields I was interested in. It ended up coming down to either a Dental Hygiene, or a Media design degree. I’m pretty sure dental hygienists are making around $80,000 a year, and not even working full time! So I ended up choosing the media design field. Good thing too! My health class is pretty boring and I am loving every media class I am in.

I’m in exhausted contemplation.

Of course I am still capable of learning! I just proved it the last 2 days. Although the world has changed quite a bit in the past 18 years, I am excited to be learning the new technologies and social courtesies of today’s society.

I enjoyed meeting you during the first day group. Like you, I worked construction for some time too; but I done a lot of finish work, drywalling, painting, laying tile and installing flooring, other misc. things. I think your willingness to learn will take you far. I look forward to seeing the things you will create in your time here at school.

Nice post…I like the layout and the extra photos that give us insight into your personality. So glad that you chose Media Arts rather than Dental Hygiene, You need to do what you love…follow your passion…money can’t always buy happiness. Not to worry about being the student who was away for awhile…there are many of you at Lane. Have fun…I can’t wait to see what you do in this class.
