Lightning Thief Audio

I really loved doing this project. I am not normally one to start projects on time, but for this one I immediately when home and started recording.

For this project I decided to do a reading of one of my favorite books, Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief. I wanted to create a sense of being in this particular scene. I also wanted to use more then just my voice for the characters. I ended up getting a couple of friends to play the voices of the other two characters. I feeling like the background noises also help to create the scene and make the listener feel like they are right there with the characters.

I Had a really fun time with this project. It took a lot more time than I thought it would, and I wish I had taken more time on it. One of the biggest things I learned from this project is that room size and sound proofing really affect the quality of the recordings. I found that when I recorded other people in a different room it gave their voices a far away feel to it.

If I could go back and do this project again I would try to find a more sound proof room to do the recordings in. I would also try to change my voice to indicate better when the main character is speaking out loud or in his head.

I loved this project and would love to continue with this type of work.

I love reading or watching superhero comics or movies. The blog, Marvels, http://www.readmarvel.blogspot.com/, is written by a guy who likes to read comics. Basically he reads comics and reviews them.

Good things about this blog include links to other blogs about similar things on the right hand side of the page. One of the links is titled Brian Michael Bendis. This link does not have a lot, if any, words on it, but it does have a lot of hand drawn pictures with the content being of superheroes. Bendis’s blog doesn’t have a lot to do with film besides being art, but art is used in a lot of movies, especially animations.

The content of the blog is basically just about the writers opinion on the new comics coming out. The format of the blog is professional and clean cut. You can find things easily and the links are accessible. The last entry on the Marvels blog was about his thoughts on the Secret Wars.

I chose this blog because I thought that I wouldn’t mind working with comics or animation. I would love to do a superhero cartoons, movies or animations. Art is a part of film and so are comics when you are making a movie about superheroes.

Me, Myself, and I

My name is Carissa Carlin. I was born in Eugene OR. and have stayed here my whole life. I love the violin and have played it for nine years. I have been drawing or creating things for as far back as I can remember. My favorite styles of music are Country and Christian. I have not traveled out of the state very much, but I did end up going to Mexico on a missions trip with my church in my junior and senior year of high school.Toward the end of my senior year in high school everyone kept telling me that I needed to have a plan for college, so I came up with one. It was not the best plan I have ever made, but it satisfied my parents. My plan was to go into the culinary program at lane along with doing the baking certificate. I ended up doing the program for two terms and finding out that I did not have a passion for cooking like others in the class, so I decided to not continue with the program. I ended up continuing the baking classes though.

I love art, movies, and animation, and when considering what other degree I could go for I looked for something with one of those types of classes in them. I ended up hearing about the Graphic Design program and thought that I would check it out. Then I heard about the Multimedia program and thought it would be really fun to try out too. I am now in the process of figuring out if I want to go with Graphic Design or with Multimedia.
