The Cross-Content Collaborations team presented “Get In the Know: What Students Learn Before Classes Start” during Fall 2019 Inservice. The session focused on helping faculty and staff learn what other departments teach students as they start their Lane experience.

One outcome of the collaboration was the creation of several quick guides for faculty and staff that may help clarify the different student populations we’re talking about and also who on campus can provide support and resources.

The group will continue to work on updates to the guides as well as creating further forums for faculty and staff to discuss and ask questions about how different areas of campus interact with students (and each other!) to create a college experience.

Vice President Paul Jarrell was the host of a second presentation and forum about Guided Pathways in mid-January. The video of the session is now available here. 

Rob Johnstone, a national expert, researcher, and coach on guided pathways, will be visiting us again in February for two full days of sessions, questions, and presentations about Guided Pathways.  All employees are invited to attend and participate in the keynote and open sessions throughout the two days. Dr. Johnson recommends that participants attend the keynote sessions if they plan to participate in a topic session.

Welcome back to Winter Term! We’re moving ahead with Guided Pathways work this year, but there’s a lot of work to be done. The key to success in building guided pathways is involving multiple stakeholders, with multiple viewpoints and diverse experiences, in both defining the work and completing it. To this end, we’re holding information sessions about the teams we believe we’ll need to get started in this important work, and everyone is invited to attend, learn more, and discuss.

At the sessions, we’ll briefly discuss the teams that will form this term, their anticipated scope and potential projects, and the membership roles for each. If you’re curious about how to get into the work of guided pathways, please drop by one of these open sessions to ask questions or find out more.

At each session, we’ll also hand out this document [PDF – link], which provides an outline of anticipated Winter ’19 teams and positions. (It is also attached below as a PDF for ease of download). Stay tuned for a recruitment survey, coming out in Week 2, when we’ll start looking for interested applicants for all of the teams.
