Wilderness EMT

DESCRIPTION:

This is a hybrid course and will include in-class, online, and open practicing labs portions.

This intensive course combines wilderness medicine with urban medical care practices into a single month-long program that includes clinical rotations helping to provide care for real patients. After four weeks of classroom education, practical skills, scenarios and full-scale mock rescues, you will be ready to handle medical emergencies, in the wilderness or right in town. Learning takes place both in the classroom and in outdoor settings regardless of weather conditions. Come prepared for wet, muddy, cold or hot environments. Upon successful completion of the course you will be eligible to take practical and written examinations to obtain the Oregon State and National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) EMT certification and a Wilderness EMT certification. You are required to pass both written and practical examinations.
