P2 Motion

I feel this assignment was more difficult than it should of been due to the subject matter and lens I decided to shoot with. The idea was to capture dice in movement during a board game.

Here are my three best shots:

Blur: f 11 – 1/10 – ISO 800

blur

This shot came out over exposed since I needed the background to remain static. I used a mid aperture with a slow shutter speed, thus allowing more light in than was needed. The blur of the dice passing by gives the exposure some story. I should of turned my ISO down to 200 or 400.

Freeze: f 3.2 – 1/125 – ISO 200

freeze

A very difficult shot to capture.  The wide aperture with the short lens gave the shot a small area of focus. This tiny area was where I needed to capture the dice during movement. If I were to recapture this exposure, I would use a longer lens.

Pan: f 1.8 – 1/400 – ISO 200

pan

Easily the hardest shot to capture. I opened the apeture all the way and cranked the shutter speed to 1/400 so when I followed the target I could hope for a blurred background and a focused subject. I ALMOST pulled it off but due to the difficulty of the shoot, this was the best shot of the bunch.
