Tea Bag Prez!

July 3, 2013
Today’s Daily Create from DS 106 is “Combine Three Great Past Leaders into One- Who is it and what are their combined characteristics?”

In 2016, I dream of electing a powerful woman for president: Eleanor Clinton-Stowe. She will use the tea bag as her personal iconography, but it will have a totally different meaning than the sad ol bad ol soggy ol Tea Bag Party of yore.

Hillary
Hillary Clinton aka Wonder Woman

First of all, like Hillary Clinton, she will show what she’s willing to fight for when she’ll even fight her friends, as Clinton did in her memorable battle with Barack Obama for the presidential nomination. That fight made her stronger, and she went on to become Obama’s exemplary Secretary of State.

Stowe
Harriet Beecher Stowe, American Abolitionist and Author

Like Harriet Beecher Stowe, American abolitionist and author of Uncle Tom’s Cabin, Madame President will never give up on her liberal agenda, for she will know that is just the place and time the tide will turn.

Roosevelt
Eleanor Roosevelt was the longest-serving First Lady of the United States, holding the post from 1933 to 1945 during her husband Franklin D. Roosevelt’s four terms in office.

We will know this new president by a sign in the sky set forth by Eleanor Roosevelt, who said, “A woman is like a tea bag; you can’t tell how strong she is until you put her in hot water.”

Michelle Obama said, “Before we can work on the problems, we have to fix our souls. Our souls are broken in this nation.” I’d like to hear more on that topic–maybe Eleanor Beecher-Stowe, who herself may be African American, Asian, or Native American, can work on that with us!

My tea party friends would be appalled; I’m tickled at the prospect of a liberal Ms. President with the sterling skills sets you outlined…well, it’s about time to let the women have a go at it. It’s well within reach but will take lots of cups of tea…I’m dashing to the kitchen to make a pot!

I just finished reading “Half the Sky” by Nicholas D Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn. Bottom line: ultimately, women make the best leaders.
