P6 Finally

Hello again,

It feels strange to be done with my final project for this class. It was a bit of a struggle to get it done, but I am happy with the result. This term has been all about problem solving. I am new to the art, traditional or digital. I have learned to work to my own abilities. I wanted to tell a simple tale with a good moral in it. I chose to build  off of the mythos of the FAOLADH (irish werewolves). I have always hated the negative stigma placed upon wolves. I get that people fear what they do not know, but in this day and age, with all the information in the world in our phones, we still make ignorant, fearful decisions. Sometimes the thing you fear the most might be your only hope. The story is about three little kids on the way to the main township from their rural home. A shady childsnatcher sees them, but before he can act he is stooped by the faoladh that patrol the Queen’s road. This was also a story my brother used to tell me when I was afraid to walk to school by myself. I hope you all like it and maybe down the road I will do a more fleshed out version. I wish you all the best and much love to my fellow indigenius people.

Eight Blessings of Akatosh Upon You!!

Hello my indigenius people! I chose to do an informational interview via email. I chose to contact Bethesda softworks, a division of Zenimax Media Company and a recognized leader in the gaming field today. I have been a fan of the Elder Scrolls franchise and the Fallout franchise for some time now and I was curious as to how one would get in the door with this company. Below is a transcript of the email communication that took place.

Message: Hello Bethesda Representative,

My name is Jose Theragood. I am a multimedia design student at Lane Community College in Eugene Oregon. I would like to ask some questions about how one would go about entering the conceptual art side of video game making. What skills sets are industry leaders such as yourself looking for in a possible employee? What kind of operational tempo does a major gaming company run at? The answers to these questions plus additional info and feedback from your company will be greatly appreciated. I will be posting this on a class blog and if there is any information that should not be posted please let me know in your reply. Thank you for your time and I hope to receive a response soon.

I really loved the way the Derrius had fun with his reply, it is little things like this that make me want to be part of a company/studio that understands the need for solid work but can also have fun

The Eight’s blessing upon ye Jose!

Fun with Five

I am new to this multimedia world and I have learned to recognize when an idea is a little ambitious and that I need to work to my own skill set. I chose to do something rather simplistic but still working with the five concept. I did not get a chance to really work with Wondershare but I will start looking into beginner editing software to find the one that works for me. The five concept I came up with was to throw my five matching knives which produce that “thunk” sound five times while “Five Elements Ninjas” (an ol’ school kung fu flick) played in the background. I found an effect on my camera that produced a kind of painted/watercolored look and I went with it. It turned into a fun game to get all five knives to take without knocking others out or missing completely, all in one take. All in all it was super fun.

P4 fun w/ audio

I have always found folktales and myths to be kinda universal but with their own regional twists. Werewolves have been seen in almost every light now. From terrifying beasts from hell to tween heartthrobs. I always associated with the Faoladh of Irish mythos because that is how I have lived my life for as long as I can remember. I have always been frightening to strangers even when in the midst of an act of kindness. Not to mention the ever present issue of deciding between the primal nature of the wolves and your own humanity. I have always enjoyed Halloween because it is a chance to see different takes on myths and legends and maybe catch a glimpse of a real one. Just one of the many things that I think of when I take my moonlit walks. Happy Halloween to all the indigenius people out there.

Hello my friends!

My name is Jose Theragood. I am 33 years of age and am of a multi-racial background. I am from Santa Fe, New Mexico. I served 8 years off and on as a medic for the National Guard and Active Duty Army. I now have a chance to be part of a peaceful community and look forward to being a productive member. I am an avid martial theorist/artist. I am a certified chef and hope to open an Ethiopian inspired cafe of my own one day. People never really make the link between a successful business and how much easier it is with an understanding of multimedia arts. I hope to be able to have more creative control over my advertisements and in store media as well. I hope to reach a wider audience through multimedia facets and hope that people will enjoy what I have to offer.

Professional Blog Search

Hello, my name is Jose Theragood. I am a first year student at LCC. The name of the blog I chose is “Jhonnen Vasquez: MASTER OF CENTRIFUGAL BUMBLEPUPPY”. I am providing a hyperlink to Jhonnen’s tumblr site; http://jhonenv.tumblr.com. Jhonnen Vasquez is the creative genius behind one of my favorite characters/shows “Invader Zim”. I have been a fan of Jhonnen’s edgy yet cute artstyle for some time now and have been curious as to what he has been up to lately. Jhonnen’s Tumblr site is a little bit Q and A, fan wishes and thoughts, and updates on projects Jhonnen is working on. I chose Jhonnen’s site because he is one of the biggest influences on my own personal artstyle. The site itself is rather simple and has links to various works by Jhonnen. There is also a link to a web store that has Jhonnen themed items. It is not an all inclusive “wiki” on Jhonnen and that is kind of the joy of this site. I am also providing a screen shot of the page. If you have never experienced the joy of “Invader Zim” I highly recommend and also check out Jhonnen’s other works.
