Something About a Robot Dog?

It’s important to me that you read this stuff first.

This project was pretty difficult for me, as the only other video editing i’ve done in the past was the pizza one before this, and two other videos for my Spanish class in high school. You can actually watch them on my youtube if you’re interested, but they’re terrible so I wouldn’t.

This project was suppose to make you laugh, wether at the things i say, the cheesy-ness, or whatever. It’s to make you laugh.

But the only thing i could think of recording for this video was my brother’s dog, Chica. She doesn’t really do much besides lay down and sleep all day, so trying to make this not terrible to watch was a challenge. I was originally going to do a day in a dog’s life, but it would’ve just been her laying down all day, plus another student said they were going to do that. So, then i came up with the idea of doing things dogs think about which is what i followed through with.

I ended up accidentally deleting the first video i made the day before it was due, which was sort of a blessing because it sucked. This one is better but not entirely what i wanted, but oh well. So, i recorded my brothers dog, did a voice over, and boom.  This is the end product.

My biggest issue with this video is the voice over when turned to a higher pitch sounds sort of robotic? I tried to fix that somehow but alas, i couldn’t.

Enjoy.

Better late than never… right?

boat
This is a sail boat if you’ve never seen one..

For my interview, I interviewed my dad’s coworker, Jack. He’s a 28-year-old graphic designer who works for Skookum Marine. He doubles as a handyman with simple tasks when they need help around, as well as creates graphics and uses his own font for boats and their name.

Q: How did you get into graphic design?
“I grew up in a pretty artistic family, so it’s always been around me. It also helped that I drew a lot growing up. I remember in High School we had to create a company for a project, I was the one who created our logo and found myself getting more into the logo than I had first anticipated. After that I looked into creating more logos for actual people and their companies.”
Q: What’s the process of creating a logo?
“It all starts when the customer gives me their idea, or their previous design. If they want to start brand new they pitch me their idea and I work with it right in front of them so they can see my design and tell me what they like or don’t like about it. Doing it right there makes it easier for me, I can change it to their exact vision. If they bring in a previous logo but want it updated it’s basically the same procedure, I will usually add on or take off some simple details to make it more modern.”
Q: How long does it take from start to finish?
“It all depends with the work they want on the boat. I personally usually spend about six hours on average on creating the design from start to finish, boat repairs guys spend about four to five days working and preparing the boat itself for the design. Their process is sanding, buffing and sometimes repainting the area where the logo will go on.”
Q: Have you ever had a customer dislike one of your designs?
“I haven’t had that happen yet, and hopefully that never happens hahah. Our goal here is to make sure our customers are always satisfied with what they’re paying for. We always want to do a quality job and keep our customers coming back for another job.”
Q: Overall, how do you like the career that you’ve chosen?
“I think I chose something that won’t be a drag to come to every day. Working for Scott (Jack’s boss) is great, he’s a great boss to work under. He’s really understanding on our needs as employees and makes sure we enjoy what we’re doing here. Specifically, I enjoy what I do here creating designs and helping out the guys when they need a hand. I could never do a job where it’s the same thing every day after working here.”
Before interviewing Jack I knew nothing about him except he was a handyman and a graphic designer, but nothing on a personal level. After my interview and seeing how much Jack genuinely enjoys his job here it really opened my eyes to make sure I work somewhere that I enjoy going to, and that I love what I’m doing.
The end. 

.. Pizza

So, I really wanted to avoid the whole “5 Steps” thing. Mostly because I feel like it’s not that creative and it’s kind of cringey in my opinion. But as I came around to actually doing this project and what I could realistically accomplish, this whole 5 steps thing just sort of happened on it’s own. I work at this pizza place, Figaro’s Pizza,  I had work this past weekend so I decided to bring my camera and record my coworker making my pizza. The audio from the videos were very airy from the mic in my camera and sounded weird, so I avoided using the audio and just found some Italian theme music that I thought would fit well. This was the outcome.

Blog Search – Mashable.com

2017-01-29-1

mashable.com

I guess you could say I chose a pretty basic “blog” for this assignment. But I personally love Mashable. I discovered it when Snapchat started to expand their discover dots, it was all about new technology, movie facts and upcoming video game announcements. Easily became one of my favorite new sites. I’ve always been interested in anything regarding technology, so the fact that this website has tabs for social media, videos, technology, lifestyle things, entertainment and a few others all filled with articles makes it a great site for anyone. It makes knowing what’s trending easy by how everything is sectioned out and easily accessible. It doesn’t matter what interested in, you’re bound to find something of  interest here.

Since this is a pretty popular website and updated regularly, it makes the browsing experience smooth. One of the greatest features of this site is it’s a great resource for current news. Unlike actual news sites, it makes knowing current world or local events interesting and not so depressing.

Hands down the best part of this site is the meme section2017-01-29 (2).png2017-01-29 (3).pngWhile knowing current events in the real world and knowing what’s new in the technology world, you can hopefully catch a quick laugh from these relatable memes.

Sobre Mi

Hi, hey, hello.

img_4876I don’t know about you, but this about me thing reminds me of a 2010 MySpace bio. Well to get to it, my name is Francis. I don’t really know what I’m doing with my life yet, but here are some things about me. I enjoy doing nothing, like the laying in bed binge  watching Netflix, searching through the internet kind of nothing. I’ve seen Parks and Rec about 7 times all the way through. I grew up playing video games with my two older brothers, starting with Mario Paint on the Super Nintendo. My favorite game of all time is probably Animal Crossing, but as of lately all I play is Overwatch. Continuing to play games with my brothers and mess around on computers, I’ve become very fond of technology and all that we can do with it. Leading me to take classes along the Multimedia Design program. I don’t really know what I want to do with that exactly, but hopefully I figure that out soon.

I’m currently struggling to become fluent in Spanish. My dad is from Mexico and is obviously fluent. He didn’t teach me while growing up so now here I am, 19 years old, know a ton of words but have no idea how to form sentences. I’m lucky enough to go to Mexico every Christmas to see my family down there. I can understand it for the most part, but talking is where I get stuck. The picture included is from my most recent trip a couple of weeks ago, I was petting a random stray dog. I’ll end this by saying I also really like dogs, corgis specifically.

And yeah, I guess that’s me.
