P6 Final

This final project was created to inspire those who watch it. I enjoy photography and have since I was a sophomore in high school. It was an option of what I wanted to spend the rest of my life doing, but I was still very indecisive at the time. So I continued doing what I was doing, taking classes in high school, on the newspaper staff, and going about my life. As you can probably see, the quality on some the photos in the beginning aren’t very good, but as the years progress, you see the quality increase, the composition get better, and my subjects become more alive. This is when I started to really fall in love with the work I was creating.

Then in 2015, the summer before my senior year, I welcomed my baby nephew. And in that moment, watching him come into the world, was when I knew who and what I wanted to be. I was going to be the best aunt imaginable because, although my parents have siblings, they were never in my life. Therefore, I was never going to let Ethen feel like he had family who didn’t care to get to know him. He helped me figure out that photography was what I wanted to do with my life. And he knows it too. I’ve had a camera in his face since the moment he was born, and I have no regrets about it. He inspired my photography business name, EDM Photography. It represents his initials. Capturing all his little milestones for my sister made me want to do the same for others.

That is what I believe photography is all about. It’s about capturing a full experience in a certain moment. I love what I do, and I hope to continue doing it no matter where life takes me. It brings me a special kind of joy. This is also why my video opens with the quote, “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” I see beauty all around me in my everyday life, but I see a greater beauty through a camera lens. Every one of my subjects is beautiful in their own way, whether it comes from a single person, a group of friends, or in nature. So I ask my viewers this… What do you find beautiful?

Professional Practice

The activity I attended was the Prints from Print Arts Northwest lecture in Building 11’s main gallery on February 15th. The two women who presented the artwork were, Susan Lowdermilk and Tallmadge Doyle. They also had their own pieces in the show too. There were many things that interested me about this art show. I chose to go to this lecture because it gave me something new to learn about. I knew nothing about art that came from printmakers until now.

Printmaking has been around for a very long time and has become modernized and more technical over the years. Currently, three-D printing is becoming very common. As I was looking around at the pieces of art, they all seemed completely different because they are. There are many different ways to do printmaking and with knowledge about the prints, you may be able to tell what kind it is and how it was made. For example, dry paint, mono type, and solar plate are a few different ways. Printmaking definitely does not seem easy, but it can be very creative and simple.

The definition of printmaking is, “multiple original”. The speakers described the art to be like stamps. Printmaking pieces come from all around the world. There are also many limited editions of printmaking art. Many people have made their living off of being professional artists. I have a huge amount of respect for artist and their work. It’s truly an amazing sight to see.

5 Values of Life

Image editing isn’t as easy as some may think. At least it wasn’t for me anyway. It wasn’t easy but for some reason it has been my favorite project so far. I was really able to put my own creativity and thoughts into it. The purpose of this assignment was to answer the biggest question of all, “What does 5 mean to you?” Well, I answered. My five values of life are what make me who I am today.

I’m a huge believer in Christ and my faith grows everyday with all the lessons life throws at me. I have my high school experience at Marist to thank for this because with all the school masses and retreats, it really helped me get in touch with my faith. My God is always number one in my life and I can’t express that enough.

My family is my everything because they’ve been there for me all my life. They are the people I can truly count on, my mom, dad, sister, and nephew. They mean the world to me and I don’t know what I would ever do without them.

I value Joshua so much. He’s not just my boyfriend, he is my absolute best friend. We’ve known each other since we were in high school together so he knows just about everything he can about me. He’s extremely supportive of all my dreams and he does all that he can for me. Like every couple we have our ups and down, especially right now with him being away in the Air Force. I believe that no matter what, we will always find our way back to each other.

I’ve always been told that I could dance before I could walk and that I was able to sing before I could talk. I consider music to be apart of who I am. It’s something that I’ve turned to in my darkest of moments all throughout my life. I enjoy every genre of music from Country to Rap to R&B to Disney. Music makes my heart beat.

I believe in strength. I have been through so much in my life, a lot of happiness but also a lot more of pain and suffering. The other four values are what have helped me push past the hard times to be able to still be here today. I fight everyday to continue on and I’m glad to be living once again.

Audio Project

With this audio assignment, my main idea was create a product with my sister reading one of my nephew’s baby books, particularly Dr. Suess because he’s always been one of my favorite authors, along with adding some fun and silly sounds to it. The reason I chose to go this route is because I would love to raise awareness on how important it is for children to start reading at any age.

When I was little, I didn’t read as much as I should’ve. It is something that I regret because growing up my reading was never at the level it could’ve been. Even today, I’m still not where I should be when it comes to my reading level. When I started college at LCC, I was put into the Guided Studies program due to my reading scores. I truly believe that the Reading and Effective Learning classes helped me improve an enormous amount. I’m still not the best at reading or where I should be but I continue to improve everyday.

Now that I have a year old nephew, who I love and adore dearly, I read to him multiple times a day everyday. The best part about it is that he enjoys sitting down with me. When he wants to read, he loves picking out his own books and turning the pages himself. I enjoy reading with him because not only do I help educate him but it’s a great way to spend quality time with my nephew, which is completely one of the most important thing to me.

Dawn Photo Blog

screen-shot-2017-01-25-at-2-35-02-pm

The blog I’ve decided to tell you about is called Dawn Photo. Now I personally know this photographer because she was my photographer for my senior photos back in high school. Her name is Dawn and she is a true role model in my line of work. Not only has she made a name for herself over the years, but she is so amazing at what she does that it has allowed herself to travel the world, meet new people, and capture the most incredible photos. You can hear and see all of it on her blog : http://www.dawn-photo.com/blog/

I believe this site gives off a very “go with the flow” vibe. The colors that are given speak of peace and relaxation, which is exactly what Dawn is all about. She gives off great energy when you read her blog because she writes in a way that makes you feel like she’s talking right to you. Dawn has produced a great website and blog. The quality of both her information and product are exactly what they promise to be. She has many resources to back up her incredible service, myself included, along with others worldwide. She is someone worth trusting with your important memories.

Who Am I?

photoHi! My name is Gabriella Mujica, but you can call me Gabby. I’m an 18 year old graduate from Marist Catholic High School in Eugene, Oregon but was born and raised in Discovery Bay, California. I am currently attending Lane Community College as a Multimedia Design major in hopes to become a professional photographer.

Growing up, I was always surrounded by my parents and older sister, along with great friends who I truly consider to be family. In 2015, my family grew as my nephew, Ethen Domminic, was born in August. He is a huge blessing in my life and the reason I made the career decision I did. Ever since he was born, I’ve taken multiple pictures of him every single day and it’s amazing to look back at them and see how much he’s grown in 16 months.

A few things that I enjoy doing are playing sports, listening to music, and working on my art. I love what I do and the people whom I get to do it with. One of those people is my boyfriend, Joshua. I’ve been with him since the summer… and just yesterday, he got on a flight to San Antonio, Texas for basic military training in the Air Force. Not only is he my boyfriend, but he’s been my best friend all throughout high school, he’s someone who makes me feel complete and safe in my own skin. It’s hard being apart, but I know that love conquers all and one day we’ll be together again.
