“Moonlight Night” – Trailer Coming NEVER

“Based on the amazing hit of Derek’s story manga of Moonlight Night. Get those feels ready for a roller coaster ride of a feeling in your heart you won’t forget.”

Basically this video is supposed to be as “if” it were a promotional video trailer to a upcoming series show or movie to come out.

Never have I came close wanting to jokingly die when working on a final’s project. This process was so time consuming for me, because I’m filling in so many 8.5 x 11 papers constantly and working almost everyday on it, the process of how I did it was more difficult then it needed to be. Sometimes I wished just killing the main heroine off right away just to end the story short to save more time, but in a trailer it would totally spoil the upcoming movie.

The story itself if from an old original story I made in 9th grade that I found and changed some things up to fit it as a trailer for my final’s project class. The story is fixated to be a romance comedy, but with a little  bit of dramatic serious moments. Due to time constants, there were many scenes I couldn’t put in, but that would possibly go past the three minute mark. I also wished the drawings were made through line art, but didn’t have time so we did a cheap way of increasing contrast from the scanned drawing and some slight cleaning up with erasing. In addition even without color, putting in some good shading and toning would have been awesome, but again no time.

I asked a week before the due date to collaborate with Jenna and working with her saved a whole lot of time for me on my part. I’m very thankful for the motivation she kept giving me and through out the process we constantly kept pushing each other and wanting to jokingly die together. Anyway I’m somewhat happy with the final outcome in a way with this project. It was a love hate relationship to the project and my story characters.

PARAFIVENORMA

This project was extremely difficult in my opinion, but I’m too dumb enough to come with a simpler concept of portraying what 5 means to me. The infinite of possibilities I could have done and so many easy ones I could have accomplished to save more time so I could use it to work on more important things.

Throughout this video the main character get’s paranoid of seeing and hearing the number 5 everywhere. Basically this video was supposed to be the main character was dreaming and then she wakes up from it, but ends with a plot twist of is she really still dreaming still? The story was only half finished due to time constraint and slight technical difficulties. In addition, I had always been drawing and visualizing in my mind how scenes should be played out, but doing it physically was way more difficult than what I originally thought. Being new to all this took at least 6 hours of doing the recording procedure in one day to only get 2 fine minutes of what I wanted. Although that shouldn’t matter, because the video would have been way past the 2 minute requirement for this project so I guess I’m happy in the end I met the criteria of the work.

Although at heart I feel empty that in a way my original plan was not finished and I tried so hard and been trying to get to that end goal, but I hope now that my next video recording will go more smoothly. Be it finishing it completely or finishing more progress with a lot less time consumed.

Acapella Tetris Theme A

The process of coming up with a interesting story, would not come to my mind whatsoever. Plus I just didn’t want to do a story at all for the time being. So the final outcome I came out with was deciding on singing a acapella of a song, because I love singing and there’s no story at all. So the music I chosen was Tetris Theme A, because it is a most well known classic video game song made by a Russian composer that I think most people know of. I thought about doing Mario or Zelda, but it felt to stereotypical. I felt so full of awe when doing the project, because I haven’t sang much in a while, and hearing your own voice is in a long time.

The process could have been better, but really almost anything could have been better. I couldn’t do a deep base voice and couldn’t even whistle. Like it just surprises me how do people whistle, it’s like impossible for me! Also I don’t like the picture the way it’s frame, and I kept trying to get a good image, but I gave up wasting my time.

So hopefully you will indulge yourself by hearing my ethereal beautiful elegant voice. I’m not tying to sound arrogant, I’m just trying to stay positive, because honestly this project drove me nuts! Just so you know I decently enjoyed this project.

A World of Manga

Screen Shot 2015-10-20 at 8.52.32 AM

For at least 5 years I have been reading manga, and I’m always fascinated by the many artwork styles and the many themes and genre’s they provide. This site called the MangaBlog: http://mangablog.mangabookshelf.com/ covers a variety of diverse manga’s ranges for many young and old to lot’s of popular manga of recent years and old that have been translated into English.

This blog primarily highlights reviews and conversations about various types of manga. Usually each week has a different theme related manga from many of the reviewers who own the blog. Each post consists of links to other websites consisting of many other interesting manga reviews from many people to all sorts of genre’s. Be it romance, comedy, psychological, tragedy, horror, and many more. The site also has links to articles or news that goes over what manga has affected recently to, how it affected someone in what they do, the top spot on this week’s New York Times Manga Best Seller list, or an interesting interview with famous manga creators at conventions, especially at big conventions` like the NYCC (New York Comic Con).

The industry of manga as a whole recently has been more popular than ever and is well known, because it is distributed worldwide. What supports this is on the blog, one of the posts covers about publishers releasing almost 800 new volumes of many manga’s in 2014, up 25% from 2013 and I wouldn’t be surprised! Even “One Piece” by Oda Eiichiro won Guinness World record for, “The most copies published for the same comic book series by a single author” being 320,866,000!

Sometimes I wonder if I myself will ever make a manga of my own. I mean making a story of your own and if it becomes popular enough and become animated sounds so breathtaking.

11.Media Creation Lab

11.) Located within building 17 on the second floor, is the Indie Lab. If you need to use a MAC and work on homework or projects, this is the place. Also if you want to hangout with the Author of this blog, I’m usually in or the room next to the indie lab, because that area is my crib.

12.TheFlags

12. In building 1, there are tons of flags, from many different countries. Being patriotic as I am, on the bottom row of flags there’s America! Also since I like Japan too, there’s its white rectangular flag with a large red disc (representing the sun) in the center, at the top row.

13.Construciton

13. Right near the center building, there has been even more Construction and this one is specifically on making a shortcut of stairs. If your class is right next to it be ready to hear a lot of drilling and hammering. Although recently as of now, it has been more quiet.

14.WildCard

14. I’m pretty sure you have seen Turkeys multiple times on Campus and on other peoples blogs, but it’s just that they’re so cute and handsome that you see them frequently. I would have taken a more closer shot of this Turkey, but I was succumb to the fear of being attacked, although the turkey was more fixated in attacking its mirrored image reflecting from the silver sculpture.

That is Who I Am

Hello fellow people of the internet, my name is Derek, and I’m here to tell you just who I am.

I’ve lived in Oregon almost all my life and traveled to interesting far places like, New York. Hong Kong, and mostly Philippines. I really do love reading Japanese comics called manga and their anime. I joined LCC last fall and at first just doing drawing art related classes and thought about majoring in Graphic Design. I felt most times I spent thinking what I wanted to Major in for sure, but after meeting interesting people about their stories of how they found what they wanted to major in  and talking with my councilor; My conviction lead me to decided to Major into Multimedia.

In my world I used to spend most of my time playing video games and occasionally do a hour run. Now and days, I just don’t play video games, and it feels almost obsolete. Although that doesn’t mean I won’t ever play video games ever again, I will challenge and wish to beat you at a Mario Party game if I must. My hobbies mostly consist of understanding the piano, and I just started recently. I also really enjoy my daily dose of manga/anime, and drawing like american comic/mostly manga style daily consistently for 4 hours. I love drawing and dynamic forms of perspective and seeing other artists drawing style of forms is always fascinating.

10386846_283738301811868_2270588219659685223_nFor the future I hope to brighten my horizon in the MultiMedia field and find specifically what I will find in life as a job that enjoy as “my specialty”. Hopefully I’ll be able to polish my skills and develop new skills, like understanding Digital Arts. If theres a will then theres a way, and with passion their is progress.
