For this project I went to 2 cemeteries in Eugene. The first was the Laurel Hill Cemetery off Glenwood Blvd. Once I got there I cracked open a beer that I had in my backpack and sat and relaxed before the photo shoot. Other than the distance noise from the I-5 it was very serene and the weather was perfect. After my beer I put Pallbearer on my mp3 player, which I think was right for the atmosphere, and started the photo shoot.
From Laurel Hill I headed for the Eugene Masonic Cemetery off E 25th Ave and University St. This cemetery was amazing. Definitely recommend hitting this place up. The headstones where a work of art in themselves plus the surrounding trees and ferns added a nice touch.
For the video I wanted to have the right band/ music to match the black and white pictures. I was also trying to match the transitions with the beat of the music which took some time. Overall this project is not as good as P5 but I think I captured the atmosphere of the photos.
For this project what popped in my mind about FIVE was the 5 senses. I really wanted to go all out for this project and have fun with it. Once I had the ideas for the different senses I was dead set on going through with them and not changing what I had in mind. I enjoyed this project more than P4-Audio since it was dealing with editing video along with audio. I used Windows Movie Maker which I think was fairly easy to use and effective. I wanted to be as creative and funny as possible to describe each of the senses. This project has definitely sparked my interest in making and editing videos and I plan to gain more experience in doing so.
You can read along with the story in the description of the track in Soundcloud!!
For this project I did a narration of a story called The Church by Alvin Schwartz. The story comes from a book which is the 2nd of a 3 part series called More Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. I remember when I was in elementary school and going to the library to check these books out and trip out on the illustrations which are really odd and creepy. I was trying to go for the creepy aspect while narrating but it turned out kind of cheesy haha. I really liked working with audacity because it was similar to a recording program I used before called Sony Acid Pro. Another reason why I like working with audacity is because it’s one of the main reasons I’m going to Lane to become and Audio Engineer. This project was super awesome and I can’t wait to mess around with more audacity!!!
