For this assignment I interviewed Dan Bernard. He works for Graveyard Carz, a TV show. I asked Dan a total of 5 questions for him to answer.

  1. What is it you do at work?
  2. How does what you do help with the finished product?
  3. Why do you like doing what you do?
  4. How long have you been doing your job?
  5. How much longer would you like to do this job?

This is how Dan answered the 5 questions.

  1. At Graveyard Carz he is the lead segment editor, and associate producer. He also does graphic design work for the T-shirts as well as design motion graphics for some of the shows titles.
  2. The shows content wouldn’t be edited unless he did his job. The raw footage can sometimes take him hours to do. His job is to edit the raw content into entertaining/relevant portions so hat the online editor can take his project files and assemble the episode from his edits.
  3. He enjoys editing because he thinks of it lake a sculptor sees a piece of stone. They don’t see the hunk of rough rock that is a formless mass, they see what is in their mind’s eye, and then they work to free the sculpture from inside the stone.
  4. He has been editing Graveyard Carz for about six years now.
  5. He thinks that he will be at Graveyard Carz for another few months, only because of another job opportunity that has recently come up.

I chose to interview Dan because I knew he did film editing for Graveyard Carz. I also chose Dan because we see each other often. He is a good family friend, and we go to the same church. I have known him since I was ten years old, so I have been around him before and ever since he started working for Graveyard Carz. I knew he would be a good person to interview because I have seen allot of his work that he does for the church. Imaginary Skater <- This video he edited and did sound effects, but he didn’t video because he was the “skater”. It was for church entertainment, he made it for a youth fundraiser. I like his work and even though that video wasn’t professionally done, his professional work is amazing. Dan went to school at LCC for his degree in media and arts also.
