Unions and administration should appoint members, but by knowledge and skill, and only one council per individual.

Governance should not be conflated with labor relations or union negotiations.

The unions should NOT formally be part of governance. The contract is the province of unions, not governance.

True, but it can be more effective to include union reps as stakeholders.

Community appointments. Elected positions. I think faculty and classified should elect the administration.

Representatives of groups should be more heavily involved, but clear, transparent, & timely info. to all group members (and individuals) should happen.

Functional representation not arbitrary representation by “groups” That aren’t affected as a group. For example, a classified rep that is appointed for all classified but is not affected by governance decisions.

Provide opportunities for food, sharing, & community building (dancing, singing, poetry). Ways for humans to connect and build a shared sense of togetherness culture.

Involvement does not have to be decision-making.

Collectively set priorities. Consensus governance. Cut only upper management not low-wage workers. Have decentralized system- need fewer administrators= more $ for the people who actually help students.

Able to participate from satellite campuses by video conference and online. Meetings held by Blackboard Connect or a free service such as Google handout -> eliminate overhead cost for facilities, food & increase access.

Longhouse rules of order. Content experts doing the work. Both difficult and meaningful.
