  1. I suggest changing the “failed” language to “did not meet” or “unable to meet”. This shift in language allows improvement-focused conversations to include systemic and sociopolitical influences versus placing the burden of the outcome on the “failed” student. For example, the systemic shift toward early alert is an institutional response that promotes opportunities for corrective action by the student and the college.
